Moderation standards

What we review, how we decide, and what we cannot promise

Moderation reduces risk; it cannot eliminate it. Yahalaly combines eligibility gates, manual review, member controls, audit records, and enforcement while avoiding claims of perfect prevention or instant response.

Before discovery

  • Email control must be confirmed.
  • Required onboarding information must be complete.
  • A profile must be manually approved before normal discovery.
  • Photos can be held, approved, or rejected separately from the profile.
  • Review is a platform-suitability check, not government-ID, criminal-record, employment, or age verification.

Member reports

A report can identify the member and, where relevant, a conversation, message, or photo. Context is validated so a person cannot attach arbitrary private content from a conversation they did not join. Reports notify administrators for review.

Members should provide specific facts and preserve relevant evidence. Knowingly false or retaliatory reports can themselves violate the Community Guidelines.

Priority and response

  • Immediate threats, credible violence, sexual exploitation, extortion, and imminent self-harm concerns receive the highest priority when identified.
  • Scams, impersonation, harassment, hate, stalking, coercion, and repeated unwanted contact are reviewed for prompt protective action.
  • Profile quality, misleading details, spam, and lower-risk conduct are reviewed in the normal moderation queue.
  • Yahalaly does not publish a guaranteed response time during the founding-member launch. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Possible actions

  • No action when available evidence does not establish a violation.
  • Request for more information or profile changes.
  • Warning, content rejection, or content removal.
  • Feature restriction, suspension, or account removal.
  • Preservation or disclosure when legally required or necessary to respond to serious safety risk, subject to applicable law.

Blocking is immediate member control

Blocking prevents normal interaction and ends an active match between the two accounts. It does not automatically create a moderation report, so report separately when the safety team should assess conduct.

Fairness, privacy, and appeals

Reviewers should use the minimum information necessary, document decisions, avoid conflicts of interest, and apply the same standard regardless of gender, ethnicity, nationality, disability, or school of thought. Sensitive report details are shared only as needed for review, safety, or legal obligations.

A member can contact safety@yahalaly.com to ask for review of an enforcement decision. Reconsideration is not guaranteed, and information about another member or confidential safety signals may not be disclosed.
